I’m so happy I have a huge zit on my scalp!

I never thought I’d say that, or even think it! But, that means it’s not on my face… All the sugar of Christmas cookies got me once again! I really do love cookies so I will partake in them. Especially the cut out cookies since I never make them any other time of the year! So, the sugar got me inflamed, and for me one sign is acne. I also had joint pain and muscle aches.

So, what’s your sign? Sign of inflammation that is! Everyone is different, you just have to pay attention. Some people get high blood pressure. Others will get an autoimmune flare up or bowel changes or back pain or rashes or migraines …you name it! Genetics plays a part on how the inflammation will be expressed.

Consider cutting sown on sugar in your baking. I usually do half & half (or more) of Stevia or Monk fruit. Coconut sugar also has less of a glycemic load (so it doesn’t spike your insulin as much). Natural sweeteners like maple syrup and honey are also better choices. But for that frosting it was powdered sugar, plant based milk and ghee all the way. At least we could keep them dairy free!

Whatever you do, be kind to yourself if you go “crazy” on sugar like I did. Ya gotta live a little, right? The key is, don’t go down the rabbit hole of beating yourself up for it. That just drives your stress response (sympathetic nervous system) into high gear and even more inflammation, immune suppression, stomach dysfunction and hormone disruption (to name a few things…).
